Our Sunday morning services are at 10:00 a.m.
during the fall, winter, and spring months. During June,
July, and August until after Labor Day, we meet at 9:30
a.m.. Our services are very traditional in nature with old
favorites as hymns, scripture readings, a time of sharing
of joys and concerns for prayer, and short, to the point
sermons. Visitors are always welcome. We have a coffee hour
after church.
Communion is held the first
Sunday of each month. We use the method of intinction (dipping
the bread into the cup). Our communion table is an open
table. You do not have to be a member of our church or any
other church to receive communion on Sunday morning.
Our Ladies Aid group meets
the second Thursday of the month. Although this group is
primarily made up of members of the United Methodist Church,
other women in the community are welcome. The Ladies Aid
is in charge of the Strawberry Festival each year. Monies
from that endeavor are used to help both the church and
other mission activities.
We started a children?s Sunday
School on April 3rd. At the present time, it meets during
the church service. The children stay in church for the
first hymn, the opening prayer, and the ?Children?s Corner?
time with the pastor. They then go to the social hall for
Sunday School. Our teachers are Tanya Peters and John Cischke.
News about our members:
Marg and Ken Host have moved
to Iron River, MI where Marg has accepted a position as
local pastor of Iron River: Wesley United Methodist Church.
Marg reports that all is going well and she is having a
wonderful time in her new role. Ken retains his membership
in Germfask UMC for the present time.
John Cischke is our newest
lay speaker. He attended the basic class in October. He
was able to use his first written sermon the following week
when Pastor Karen was ill. He preached again one Sunday
in March ?just because?. He is also lined up for the Sunday
of Annual Conference and during the pastor?s June vacation.
